To have this kind of praise heaped upon any guitar player is a great honour. To have one of your contemporaries who has acheived the status of world-renown classical guitarist virtuoso puts a bit of pressure on you to live up to such statements.

In Tom Lockwood’s case though, there is no pressure because when Tom plays guitar, he’s just being himself and his style comes out in every piece he plays. He never comes across as too technical and his phrasing is unique and plays to the song and his audience.

Since his musical sensibilities are far-ranging - from jazz to classical and from rock to blues, his live performances are also varied. Whether he is playing alone with nothing but a classical guitar in his hands, rockin’ out with the Tom Lockwood Band or groovin’ out with his jazz trio, Tom is in his natural environment.
